What students tell us.

My first pot leans like a tired tower and I love it. Nell had the whole row laughing before anyone had centred a thing.

Joanne, RomileyWheel tasterSample review

By the fourth evening I could centre without help. The glazing night was worth the course on its own.

Before your first class.

Another question?

Ring the studio during opening hours, or write to hello@marlpit-studio.example.

Call 0161 496 0273
01I have never touched clay before. Will I keep up?

Yes. The tasters and the hand-building evenings assume no experience at all, and tutors show every step at the wheel or the table before you try it yourself.

02Clay gets everywhere. What clothes are best?

Old clothes with sleeves you can push up, and closed shoes. We lend aprons. Long hair tied back and short nails make the wheel much easier.

03How old do you need to be?

Adult classes take anyone aged 14 or over, and under 18s come with a parent or carer booked on the same class. The young makers clay club is for children aged 7 to 12, and a parent or carer stays on site for children under 10.

04When are pots ready to collect?

Clay dries for a week or so and then goes through two firings, so allow about a month before your pieces are on the named shelf. Collect them any time we are open.

05Can I change my date?

Yes, at no charge until 5 days before your class. Closer to the day, we offer your place to the waiting list and move you if someone takes it.

06Do gift vouchers cover any class?

A voucher can go towards any class, a whole course or a few sessions of the young makers club. Vouchers are bought in the studio or by phone, not online.
