Sample terms, in plain English
Sample only. This demo takes no bookings, and these terms bind nobody.
Asking for a place
The class request asks for a place; it does not book one. A place is only yours once we have rung or emailed to say there is room and taken payment by card. Until then, neither of us is bound to anything.
Changing or cancelling
A class is for a set date, so under UK consumer law the usual 14-day right to cancel may not apply. Before you pay, we tell you whether it does. You can change to another date at no charge until 5 days before the class (sample terms).
- Less than 5 days before, we offer your place to the waiting list first, and move you to another date if someone takes it.
- On the seven-week course, a missed evening can be made up with the other weekday's group when a wheel is free. Once the first evening has run, the course cannot move to a later group.
- If Marlpit has to call off a class, for illness or a kiln fault, you choose a later date or we pay back what you paid.
The exception is regulation 28(1)(h) of the UK's Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, which covers leisure services booked for a specific date. The government's guidance does not name classes, so whether it covers a class booking is not certain. Before you pay, we tell you in writing whether you have the 14 days to cancel. None of this affects your other rights.
Ages
Adult classes take anyone aged 14 or over, and under 18s come with a parent or carer booked on the same class. The young makers clay club is for children aged 7 to 12. A parent or carer stays on site for children under 10, and every child is handed back at the studio door.
Studio rules
Closed shoes, and clothes that can take a splash of slip. A tutor can stop anyone using a tool unsafely. The kiln room is staff only.
Collecting your work
Finished pieces stay on the named shelf for 12 weeks; anything left longer has its clay reclaimed, so ring 0161 496 0273 if you need us to keep yours.
Gift vouchers
A voucher can be spent on any class for two years from the date written on the card, and whatever is left stays on it until it is used up. Vouchers are sold at the studio counter or by phone, never online.
Bought a voucher by phone? You can cancel it within 14 days of the day you bought it, and if it has not been spent we pay the whole amount back to your card (sample terms).
